Father Accused of Harming Child Avoids Prosecution and CHIPS Petition

Kelly Keegan’s client was accused of Malicious Punishment and Assault when doctors discovered his baby daughter had a fracture in her leg. An investigation was initiated by the Wright County Sheriff’s Office, Wright County Social Services, and the Wright County Attorney’s Office. After communications with these agencies, the investigation shifted from the Kelly’s client to the baby’s daycare provider, who was watching the baby before the injuries were discovered. Ultimately, the agencies closed their investigations into Kelly’s client and declined to pursue both a CHIPS Petition and criminal charges.
