Kelly’s client had a difficult childhood and was convicted of Felony Fifth Degree Possession of Marijuana in Dakota County when he was twenty years old. Through hard work and perseverance he got ahead in life and remained law abiding, obtaining his CDL, and became employed in responsible jobs driving big trucks. He wanted to hunt with his friends and colleagues, so at the age of 38 he applied for a permit to carry from the county sheriff and was denied, learning that after all these years the drug possession charge still prohibited him from possessing firearms. He hired Kelly, who convinced the judge her client had reformed and was deserving of having his gun rights restored. The judge granted Kelly’s client’s restoration so that now he may go hunting and to the shooting range with his friends.
