  • Gun Rights Restored for Juvenile Case

    Charge(s):

    When he was just a teenager, Kelly Keegan’s client was adjudicated delinquent for Felony Fifth Degree Sale of a Controlled Substance, after giving friends marijuana from his house. Twenty years later, he discovered the adjudication prohibited him from possessing firearms when he applied for a Permit to Carry. Kelly petitioned the court to restore her client’s right to possess firearms, demonstrating that he had rehabilitated since his offense, and that he was clearly not a threat to public safety. The Court agreed and granted the client’s petition, restoring his right to possess firearms.

After significant communications with the investigator and prosecutor on the case, Kelly was able to demonstrate that the patient’s cause of death was uncertain and that there was no evidence to suggest her client was responsible for the patient’s passing. Charge(s):

    Nearly ten years prior, Kelly’s client was charged by the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office with multiple counts of Felony Terroristic Threats. Having represented himself at trial, the client was acquitted of all counts by the jury. Years later, the client was arrested in Ramsey County for Misdemeanor Disorderly Conduct. That charge was later dismissed. Even though neither of these cases resulted in convictions for the client, they both continued to create issues for him.
